TOKYO - Undeniably Japan is the place where simulator games rule. We have dating simulators (Tokimeki Memorial and a flood of others), train operation simulators (Densha De GO!), school sports simulators, dance simulators (Enix's Bust A Move), and more. To complete the list, we have a mountain-climbing simulator.
SCEI is preparing a game called Souten no Shiroki Kami no Za: Great Peak.
In the game, you play the leader of a climbing party and climb the five virginal mountains.
First, you must collect members of the party. You can select members by age, sex, and climbing experience. Then, you must plan how to climb the mountain from which direction and when. Finally, you pack your bags and fly by airplane from Tokyo's Haneda Airport.
When you get to the mountain, you can instruct members from your base camp. Divide up members of your team and find the path little by little. Avoid dangerous places, or you will lose all your members. Sometime, you'll face landslides, heavy snow, and food shortages. As the members experience climbing, they become more skilled.
If your party reaches the top of the mountain, you get the honor of being "front page news." If you don't mess up the mountains by littering them with garbage, you will be mentioned.
Great Peak for PlayStation is slated for a June release.
