The biggest name in monthly mercenary-minded magazines, Soldier of Fortune, is set to make a return to the world of games. A representative with Activision today confirmed for GameSpot that a new installment of the game is being developed in Minnesota by the publisher's Activision Value label.
Confirmed details are scant, but the online store of retailer GameStop is expecting a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC release of Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back this November, with the PC edition fetching $39.99 and the console editions going for $59.99. CDuniverse is also taking preorders for the generically titled Soldier of Fortune on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
The Soldier of Fortune brand last left its mark on gaming with Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix for the Xbox in 2003. It began as a PC franchise in 2000, but versions of the game found their way to the Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and Macintosh.
