During our time spent at Hudson's CTIA booth, we had the opportunity to take a look at a new game in Hudson's lineup. Titled Six Shooter Poker, this new poker game for mobile phones is themed after the Old West, and it takes place inside old-timey casinos and saloons. And, in fact, it even includes a gunfight minigame. You'll begin the game by choosing an avatar from one of several different characters, including a bandit, a sheriff, a gunslinger, and a card shark. Once your character is created, you'll find yourself in an Old West hotel. You'll have to venture out of the hotel using the arrow keys to enter the game's town area, which is modeled like a town you might see in a Western. There's a pair of casinos and a pair of saloons you can access in this town, though you'll only be able to access the first casino from the get-go.
Once you enter the first casino, you'll have the choice between five card draw and Texas hold 'em poker. Both games play as you would expect them to, and both feature standard betting, checks, raises, and, yes, even check raises. Once you've earned enough money to progress, you'll then gain access to a saloon. Here, the rules of play are a little different. You'll actually have the ability to cheat while playing in a saloon by, quite literally, putting aces up your sleeve. However, the drawback to doing so is that you can be accused of cheating. If you're accused, and you're innocent, then you're safe. But if you're caught red-handed, you can be challenged to a gunfight. The actual gunfight mechanic works with a basic rock-paper-scissors-like mechanic, and, at any time, you can opt to surrender. However, in so doing, you'll leave yourself open to getting robbed of all your hard-earned cash.
In addition to its single-player functionality, Six Shooter Poker will feature both Bluetooth and over-the-air multiplayer functionality. Though no definitive release date has been set for the game, we'll be sure to bring you more on this promising poker title as it becomes available.
