ShareWave Inc., a new company concentrating on establishing the home PC as an "information furnace" by basically connecting it via wireless communication to various specialized appliances and areas in the household, has signed on Sierra On-Line and Cendant's World Opponent Network (WON) as inaugural participants in its Premiere Alliance program.
Examples of a possible ShareWave system could include multiplayer games like Sierra's Hoyle Classic Board Games being played on a television, Sierra Home's MasterCook being accessible from a screen in the kitchen, or a PC address book being accessed from a regular phone. A player could challenge someone else on the World Opponent Network from any place in the house.
"The quality of these firms' software is well known throughout the industry, as well as in the consumer market," said Jim Schraith, president and CEO of ShareWave. "We are proud to kick off our Premier Alliance program with such superb, highly respected companies and are looking forward to working together."
"We are enthusiastic about ShareWave's vision of the future and pleased to be a part of it," said Bill Moore, senior vice president of Sierra On-Line. "The nature of our software, already targeted to a range of household and family needs, is a perfect fit for use in ShareWave's digital wireless home network."
