As previously reported by GameSpot News, Sierra Studios and Valve officially announced today that Half-Life is currently in development for the Sega Dreamcast. Originally created for the PC by Valve, Half-Life is one of PC's best-selling first-person shooters, and it has sold more than 1.5 million copies worldwide.
The Dreamcast version will feature several optimizations, including higher-polygon player characters, dramatic lighting, and special effects. The game will also feature an all-new single-player mission that surrounds the Black Mesa security-guard character, Barney. This special mission is being created by Gearbox Software, the development team that created Half-Life: Opposing Force, the official PC expansion for Half-Life.
Half-Life for the Sega Dreamcast is expected for a summer release.
