Diving headfirst into action is never not a good idea.
Discontent over sequels, one-offs, and the lack of originality has been brewing in the game industry for some time now, and it has spurred many publishers and developers to seek out or create new, unique characters and stories.
During this year's Sierra Gamers' Week, the Vivendi-owned publisher showed off many of the original IPs it has on the horizon, including TimeShift, Prototype, and World in Conflict. Sierra also took the wraps off its latest over-the-shoulder shooter, and while it too is an all-new property, it relies heavily on the old adage that sex sells.
Developed by Montreal, Canada-based A2M, Sierra's latest offering is Wet, and it will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2008. Wet follows the tale of a young, lethal mercenary named Rubi as she sets out on a quest for revenge and wealth after having been wronged by a mysterious man who hired her.
Described as "Kill Bill meets Tomb Raider meets Prince of Persia" in GameSpot's recently posted first look, Wet features over-the-top third-person shooter action that combines acrobatic movements with fast-paced shoot-outs and sword fights. According to Sierra, players will be able to seamlessly transition from gunplay to swordplay to acrobatic maneuvers.
Wet has not yet been rated or priced.
