Shadow Warrior 2 To Launch on May 16th for Consoles, According To OPM UK-December 2024

Shadow Warrior 2 launched in October 2016 on PC and it was a resounding success for Devolver Digital and Flying Wild Hog. In fact, the game sold four times as much as 2013's Shadow Warrior reboot in the first week.

That's because it's a great first-person shooter, as pointed out by Dave in our review (8.8/10):

It would be a struggle to not recommend Shadow Warrior 2, it’s just too glorious. Running, gunning and cutting down enemies is invigorating, and the action never lets up for even a second. The sense of humor isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but cutscenes and dialogue are always skippable – just in case you really want to get back into the action.

FPS fans, Shadow Warrior 2 is just brilliant, dumb, fun. You won’t regret investing your time and money in this raunchy and a bit outrageous shooter, believe me.

Console gamers have been patiently waiting to hear something concrete about the release date on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The official Twitter account stated in March that they were aiming for a Spring release that included all the DLCs; in April, they announced that Shadow Warrior 2 had passed certification on both platforms.

Shadow Warrior 2 will hit XB1 + PS4 this spring if all things go well with certification and will include all current DLC! Thx for patience! pic.twitter.com/AJprXbRhpB

After that, we haven't heard anything concrete. However, the latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine (OPM UK #136) mentions May 16th as the final release date on page 19. We can assume that would be correct for the Xbox One version, too.

Given that we're merely six days away from May 16th, it's likely that we'll hear very soon from Devolver Digital and Flying Wild Hog.

In early January, we were able to chat with the developers who confirmed that they don't have any plans to release titles on the Nintendo Switch for the time being. They also said Shadow Warrior 2 won't have HDR on consoles due to time restraints (despite having it on PC) and that PS4 Pro will be supported but there won't be dedicated enhancements.
