Sex And The City To Return As New HBO Max Series
Sex And The City To Return As New HBO Max Series-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 6:27 AM

Sex and the City was one of the biggest TV shows of the late '90 and early 2000s, and it's heading back to screens. HBO has announced that the comedy drama series will be revived as a new HBO Max show titled And Just Like That, with three of the original cast returning.

The new show will star Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis as Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, and will pick up their lives more than a decade after their last appearance, in the 2010 movie Sex and the City 2. HBO has confirmed that And Just Like That will comprise 10 half-hour episodes and that production will start in late spring this year. A short teaser has also been released, which you can watch below via Davis's Twitter account:

One cast member who isn't returning however is Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha in the original series. Cattrall has been critical of Parker, previously stating she "could have been nicer" about Cattrall's unwillingness to appear in a third Sex & The City movie and publicly rebuffing Parker's condolences after her brother died in 2018. Parker has commented on Cattrall's absence from the new show, stating "Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do."

Sex & The City premiered in 1998 and was based on Candace Bushnell's bestselling book about the lives and loves of a group of friends in Manhattan. It ran for six seasons until 2004 and was followed by two movies in 2008 and 2010. It was a huge ratings hit for HBO and won multiple Emmy and Golden Globes awards over its lifetime.
