Several Lego Games, Including A Diablo-Like Disney Project, Have Been Canceled - Report-January 2024
Jan 10, 2025 1:41 PM

A number of Lego games under development at TT Games have reportedly been quietly canceled, including a high-profile title that was set to feature several of Disney's biggest IPs.

According to a Nintendo Life report, the game that was codenamed Project Marley would have a "Diablo-like" design focused on exploring dungeons, and had a roster that included characters from The Muppets, Toy Story, Frozen, Winnie the Pooh, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and more. A Lego Guardians of the Galaxy game codenamed Project Cosmic, a mobile port of Lego Worlds, and a non-Lego shooter featuring Warner Bros. IP from Rock and Morty, DC Comics, Stranger Things, and Looney Tunes--codenamed Project Rainbow Road--was also reportedly in development.

Now Playing: Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Video Review

It's claimed that the Lego Guardians of the Galaxy project was set to be a more traditional Lego game but was canceled after 18 months of development. The Disney game is said to have been in development for four years, but after the release of Disney Dreamlight Valley, this project reportedly lost direction and was eventually canned. Project Rainbow Road reportedly started life as a Funko project at TT Games before developer 10:10 was awarded the license to that toy brand, and TT tried to salvage its work before it pulled the plug on that project.

Mandalorian DLC for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was also reportedly worked on alongside a new Lego Batman game. It has been suggested that these projects are on hold as the studio focuses on its current project, a rumored Harry Potter game that is said to be as ambitiously massive as the Skywalker Saga.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was published in April 2022 and was a huge hit for TT Games, selling over 3.2 million units globally in just its first two weeks of release. More characters were added to the gigantic roster in September last year, and a few months later, Microsoft announced that The Skywalker Saga was being added to Xbox Game Pass.
