Sega.com Inc. announced today that it is in strategic negotiations to consolidate its Heat.net service with a leading third party online content provider. The move is aimed at furthering development of the SegaNet online network and ISP and to generate additional revenue for Sega.com. Further details concerning this strategic online partnership will be announced by the end of the current fiscal quarter.
"Sega is consolidating Heat.net with another leading gaming site and bringing them on board, as not only the marketing partner but as a technology partner with SegaNet," Charles Bellfield, Sega's director of marketing and communications told GameSpot. He added that Sega.com is targeting new technologies provided by this online partner to better the SegaNet gaming experience.
The complete SegaNet service, featuring broad-scale online gaming, email, chat, and full browsing capabilities, will launch on September 7.
