Sega to Drop Dreamcast Price
Sega to Drop Dreamcast Price-January 2024
Jan 8, 2025 5:41 AM

TOKYO - Several sources in Japan have indicated that Sega is planning to drop the price of the Dreamcast in the near future, to spark sales. It's currently rumored that the Dreamcast's price will be cut to 19,800 yen (US$160) starting on June 24. Supporting this rumor is the delay of several Sega Dreamcast games, which have been rescheduled for a June 24 release.

Sega will be holding its New Challenge Conference 99 on June 1, and the company has already hinted about something important regarding its future Dreamcast strategy. (At last year's New Challenge Conference Sega featured the announcement of Namco as a Dreamcast licensee.) One insider has informed GameSpot News that such a price drop is indeed being planned, but couldn't comment on it until June 1 - the day of the New Challenge Conference 99.

GameSpot News will have a full report on Sega's New Challenge Conference 99 announcements next week.
