Sega Sports Summit 2001: Release dates for Dreamcast sports games announced-January 2024
Jan 16, 2025 11:26 AM

At its Sega Sports Summit in New York City today, Sega announced the final sports games to be released for the Dreamcast. When compared with the support of the PS2, GameCube, and Xbox, the Dreamcast should be the prime beneficiary of Sega's sports games this year. Both NBA 2K2 and Tennis 2K2 are currently scheduled for release on the Dreamcast in October. NFL 2K2 is currently listed for a fall release, and NHL 2K2 will ship in early 2002. The Dreamcast versions of Sega's sports games will be the only iterations this year to feature online gameplay support.

"The launch of multiple Sega Sports titles across all four platforms is a testament to Sega's immersive content and winning gameplay," said Peter Moore, president and COO, Sega of America. "We've seen overwhelming support for our evolution from a hardware maker to a third-party publisher, and this acceptance by all platforms puts us clearly on the path to becoming the leading publisher in the industry. We are committed to making that goal a reality."
