2016 marks the 25th anniversary of Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. To celebrate the milestone, Sega has already released a new Sonic logo and teased that a new blue blur game is on the way. Now, Sega has announced it will hold a special presentation at SXSW this month titled "Sonic the Hedgehog: 25 Year Anniversary." This show kicks off at 3:30 PM local time on March 19--and it will be livestreamed for all to see.

　　Here is the official description for the event:

　　"The 'Sonic The Hedgehog: 25 Year Anniversary' panel will take a look at the history of the world's fastest mascot with the original creators, developers, and voice actors who will offer their insights and anecdotes about the generation-spanning character. Moderated by the man behind the @Sonic_Hedgehog Twitter account (Ed. Note: this is gonna be good), the SXSW panel will be an engaging discussion and a must-attend event for any fan of the iconic franchise."

　　Sega is also promising "breaking news" for the event--perhaps some new details on the Sonic movie or the aforementioned rumored game?

　　"Join us as we celebrate the past and look to the future with breaking news and an inside glimpse at what fans can expect in this milestone year," Sega said.

　　The panel is free and open to the public for SXSW attendees and will also be broadcast live on Twitch.

　　This survey comes after Sega management frankly admitted that the company had somewhat lost its way.

　　"Sega in the '90s was known for its brand, but after that, we've lost trust, and we're left with nothing but reputation," Sega games CEO Haruki Satomi said last summer. "We'd like to win back the trust and become a brand once again."
