Sega President Invests in Lease
Sega President Invests in Lease-October 2024
Oct 23, 2024 8:19 PM

Sega Enterprises President Hayao Nakayama plans to buy an 11.5 percent stake in Lease Electronics Co., a personal computer wholesaler. A total of 41.5 percent of the outstanding shares will be sold by Lease President Koji Kawamoto and his family, the Nikkei news service reported.

Nakayama will be the largest shareholder, with a total of 555,000 shares. Incidentally, Lease Electronics is a sales agency for NEC Corp. It is not known whether Lease's NEC affiliation and the reported interest of Sega in NEC's PowerVR chip set has anything to do with Nakayama's decision to become Lease's biggest shareholder.

Lease Electronics went public in February of 1991, but it has posted losses for three straight years since fiscal 1994.
