Now Playing: Sonic Frontiers Video Review

Sega explained, “In the global marketplace, AAA game titles for console have been sold at $59.99 for many years, but titles sold at $69.99 have appeared in the last year."

"We would like to review the prices of titles that we believe are commensurate with price increases, while also keeping an eye on market conditions," Sega continued.

The publisher still charges $60 for its latest games, including ones from its biggest franchises like Sonic Frontiers and Like a Dragon: Ishin! However, since 2020, many other publishers have started charging $70 such as PlayStation and Take-Two.

Just recently, Nintendo and Microsoft charged $70 for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Redfall, respectively. Last December, Microsoft revealed that it would increase the price of its first-party Xbox games to $70 in 2023, including Starfield. Nintendo is also evaluating the $70 pricing on a case-by-case basis.
