There will be seven total episodes released throughout 2016. Additionally, Square Enix and developer IO Interactive will support Hitman with new contracts and challenges on a weekly basis.
For more on why the developers chose episodic as a business model, you can read GameSpot's interview on the subject. Additionally, IO recently discussed and detailed Hitman's real-time "live content."
Hitman is scheduled to launch on March 11 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. You may not have to wait that long to play it, as an open beta for PlayStation Plus members will be held March 4-6.
