A few months ago, I reviewed the Sparco Racing Cockpit Pro, a racing seat and wheel-mount accessory that turned out to be a lot of fun, especially if you've got pockets deep enough to afford such a luxury. In the review I stated, "Wouldn't it be cool to have a driving cockpit that shuddered and shifted with every movement of your in-game vehicle?"
Well, as evidenced by this video, someone else feels the same way; only they went out and did something about it. The video shows someone driving what appears to be a rally game in the sickest driving rig I've ever seen; a huge construct of hydraulics and piping that literally has the drive cockpit suspended in mid-air, allowing for plenty of rollicking side-to-side and forward-and-backward motion with each undulation on the virtual track. The kicker comes at the end of the minute-long video, as the car crashes into an obstacle and the cockpit violently lurches to convey the force of the collision. Pretty damn cool.
Unfortunately, other than this footage, I haven't been able to find any information on this racing cockpit or its designer. Anyone know anything more about this driving setup or the utterly insane genius that created it?
