The Saw franchise will continue with an 11th mainline installment, Lionsgate has announced. Saw XI has been confirmed and will debut on September 27, 2024, the film studio announced on social media. "The game continues," Lionsgate said.
The confirmation of the next Saw movie comes not long after Saw X debuted at the end of September and was a fast success. It brought in more than $107 million against a modest budget of $13 million, so it's no surprise to see another sequel get greenlit.
Saw X director Kevin Greutert told The Hollywood Reporter that Saw X was meant to be a "final send-off" for the Jigsaw character. However, Greutert said he had a "never say never" attitude about bringing him back.

Saw X takes place between Saw I and Saw II, when John Kramer travels to Mexico to try to find a miracle cure for his cancer. However, he discovers that it's all a scam meant to prey on the most vulnerable people. Kramer finds his purpose, then, in turning the tables on con artists by capturing them and making them do unthinkable things as part of his "games."
Saw X had a generally favorable aggregate review rating on GameSpot sister site Metacritic. The series debuted in 2004 and has been going steady since. In addition to the main series, there have been spinoffs including Jigsaw and Spiral.
