San Diego Comic-Con 2021 Has Been Canceled-September 2024
Sep 23, 2024 1:29 AM

The annual San Diego Comic-Con event at the city's convention center has been canceled for a second year in a row. Comic-Con International cited that the continuing COVID-19 pandemic is the reason and the show will be held virtually in July. Additionally, CCI is planning on holding an in-person event later this year, in November.

The in-person fall event will take place over the course of three days, but specific info is limited at this time. It's unknown where the show will take place or the cost. Comic-Con's website will be updated with more info as it comes.

The virtual show will take place July 23-25. Because of "limited financial resources" for CCI, the show has been reduced to a three-day event. And much like 2020's event, it will feature panels for a variety of movies, TV shows, comics, and cultures. Take a look at the full statement below.

As COVID vaccines are administered across the nation, July feels far away, but CCI feels it will be "too early to safely hold an in-person event of the magnitude of Comic-Con. For this reason, we have made the challenging decision to postpone Comic-Con 2021 as an in-person gathering until our 2022 dates, and once again hold this year's celebration as the free online Comic-Con@Home."

If you already have a badge for 2021--because your 2020 badge rolled over to this year--it will be rolled over until 2022, or you can request a refund here.
