Publisher Adult Swim Games and developer Soleil Games have announced Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, a hack-and-slash action game based on the hit animated series. There's no concrete release date yet, but it's set to launch this summer for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Set before Jack's final battle with Aku in the 2017 series finale, Battle Through Time tells an untold story helmed by series head writer Darrick Bachman. As the titular samurai, you'll team up with trusted allies from the show and face off against familiar foes, travelling across space and time while wielding a variety of different weapons in combat. Your journey will revisit classic worlds and moments from the series, and feature returning characters such as The Scotsman, Scaramouche, Sir Rothchild, and more.
IGN has the announcement trailer, which you can see below.
Developer Soleil Games previously released Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker in 2018, and its staff is comprised of a number of former Team Ninja employees, so the studio is certainly experienced when it comes to developing hack-and-slash titles.
Adult Swim Games is hosting a panel at PAX East 2020 at the Boston Convention Center on February 28, where Samurai Jack series creator Genndy Tartakovsky and head writer Darrick Bachman will reveal more information about the upcoming game.
