Telltale Games is best-known for their work with high-profile IPs like Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, but they made a lot of notable games before that, too. Sam & Max Save the World--known in its original release as Sam & Max Season 1--is one of the highlights of that era of adventure games, and one of Telltale's early successes. Now, a remastered version of those games is coming to Nintendo Switch and PC on December 2. It will be $20, and half-price for owners of the original Sam & Max: Season 1.
This remaster comes with five new audio tracks, enhanced visuals, and full gamepad support. It's under development by Skunkape Games, which is comprised of ex-Telltale employees. While Telltale Games later became one of the premiere developers in narrative gaming thanks to the success of the Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, Sam & Max was the studio's first major release. In fact, the original goal of Telltale Games as a company was to obtain the Sam & Max license after LucasArts cancelled Sam & Max: Freelance Police and Full Throttle 2, two sequels to its lauded adventure games.

Telltale also ended up making a Season 2 and Season 3 featuring the freelance police duo. It's unclear if those entries will receive remasters as well, but we'll have to wait and see. There's also a VR title featuring the duo called Sam & Max: This Time It's Virtual! coming at some point, but we don't have a release date for that yet.
