Yesterday, the Screen Actors Guild's national board voted to hold a new referendum on a proposed contract between its members and game publishers. This latest move reverses the board's decision last week to reject the proposed contract. As a result of the decision, game producers have reportedly extended their contact offer to July 31.
Currently, voice actors are paid a minimum of $556 per four-hour work session. The new agreement would increase the rate to $759 by 2008, with an immediate 25 percent increase to $695. The referendum, which will be open to all 2,000 SAG members, will be mailed July 13 and is due back by July 28. SAG bylaws require a majority for the contract to be approved.
