Although reports indicate that hi-tech workers in Silicon Valley are the hot commodity, with the series of recent lawsuits, hi-tech lawyers may soon be filling select cubicles as well.
Late on Monday, graphics card maker S3 announced that it had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against nVidia. S3 claims that nVidia violated patents No.5,581,279, No. 5,402,513, and No. 5,625,379 and is seeking preliminary and permanent injunctions that would cause nVidia to cease manufacturing and distributing its RIVA family of graphic solutions.
The patents cover VGA controller circuitry, scalable video windows, and mechanisms for mixing video and graphics data.
Last month, tech giant Silicon Graphics moved to sue nVidia for alleged patent infringements as well.
