Rush 2 Gets Extreme
Rush 2 Gets Extreme-October 2024
Oct 19, 2024 5:47 PM

Midway Games has informed GameSpot News that a console-only sequel to its popular San Francisco Rush racing game, titled Rush 2 Extreme Racing US, is in the works for the Nintendo 64 in time for Thanksgiving this year. In fact, here's an interview we conducted with Atari Games' Wallace Poulter about the game.

Q: What changes/additions in gameplay are being made to Rush 2?A: We're very happy that people liked the original Rush so much, but we did get requests to allow "drifting" in the corners. That has been added along with such items as improved breaking, driving on two wheels, and driving backwards. Featurewise, we're adding at least ten new cars, animated textures, a car shop (to allow you to alter the car handling among other things), a cheat menu, and more.

Q: How many tracks will the game include?A: Twelve new tracks including six new locations such as Las Vegas, New York, Hawaii, and Seattle. There are also stunt tracks, speedway loops, and a secret track.

Q: How many players can play a multiplayer game? Still two?A: Yes.

Q: Will it be at E3?A: Yes. We should be highlighting the Hawaii track. In fact, we'll give your readers a sneak peek of the Hawaii track prior to E3.

Videogames.com readers will be able to read all about the making of the new San Francisco Rush title in our upcoming Designer Diary.
