Gamers hoping to go into the weekend with an influx of in-game cash for Grand Theft Auto Online are out of luck. Rockstar Games announced today the first half the GTA$ stimulus package has been delayed until at least next week, due to a need for more bug fixing.
"We of course want to ensure that game progress loss issues are sufficiently sorted before distributing the GTA$ to everyone," Rockstar said. "We have a few more tweaks and fixes to make in a new title update that will hit sometime next week and then we will distribute the cash."
When Rockstar originally announced the $500,000 of in-game cash for players (to be delivered in two deposits of $250,000) earlier this month, the company said it would not dole out the money until the game was stable.
Rockstar also today announced the first downloadable content for GTA Online. Dubbed the Beach Bum Pack, the DLC contains new beach-themed vehicles and weaponry that can be used in GTA Online and Story Mode. The expansion will arrive in November.
The Beach Bum Pack will also include more customization options for GTA Online characters, including tattoos and hairstyles. New Jobs will also be added across Los Santos and Blaine County.
In addition, Rockstar said it continues to work on delivering, at least the first part, of the GTA Online Content Creator sometime this fall. This will allow players to craft, publish, rate, and play custom Deathmatch and Race jobs. Rockstar will flag some of these creations as "Rockstar Verified" to be featured on the Rockstar Newswire and as part of upcoming GTA Online Social Club events.
The Beach Bum Pack and Content Creator will be free.
Rockstar also announced today that the first GTA Online Social Club Event weekends will kick off in November. Players will be able to score special rewards and bonuses for participating.
Lastly, Rockstar said specific timing information for these content updates and GTA Online Heists and GTA Online Capture the Flag mode will be shared next week. What's more, "initial details" on new GTAV story and GTA Online content will be divulged in the "next few weeks," the developer said.
