Rocket League, the excellent soccer-with-cars game, will be available to play on Steam for free this weekend. Starting April 21 at 10 AM PT, it will be available to "all users regardless [of] if you've bought it or not," developer Psyonix says in a post on the game's Steam page.
Those that haven't yet purchased the game will then be able to buy Rocket League at a discount of 40 percent. This deal lists until 10 AM PT on April 25. If you already own Rocket League, you can get "all bundles and DLC" for 20 percent off.
The next major update for Rocket League will introduce a new basketball-themed game mode called Hoops. It is set for release on April 26 as a free update.
Psyonix has also partnered with the NBA for an "NBA Flag Pack" that includes flags for all 30 NBA teams. It will be priced at $2. You don't have to spend any money to get an NBA flag, however, as next week's free update also gives all players one NBA logo flag to equip on their car.
Rocket League's Hoops mode will be played on an arena called "Dunk House." Aerial shots will be key to scoring and the net can also be used as a ramp. You can see a gameplay video for the mode here.
Rocket League has now reached 14 million players.
