A free update is coming to soccer-with-cars game Rocket League that promises to introduce a number of new ways to play. In November, developer Psyonix will add "Mutators" to the game, which change up the formula in a number of interesting-sounding ways. Watch the video below and read on to get more details.
As you can see in the video, one of the Mutators is a low-gravity variant called Moonball, while others, Cubic and Time Warp, take inspiration from Rocket League predecessor, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. The November update also introduces a new playlist, called Mutator Mashup, that combines some of these into a randomized list.
Psyonix also teased that a "highly requested" Mutator mode inspired by the real-world sport of hockey will launch in December. More details about the upcoming Mutator update for Rocket League will be announced tomorrow, October 29, through a Twitch livestream starting at 2 PM PDT.
Following that, developers will share even more and answer fan questions during a Reddit AMA on Tuesday, November 3.
A release date for Rocket League's Mutator update has now been announced, but it is coming to both PlayStation 4 and PC.
Rocket League was released earlier this summer and quickly became a big hit. To date, the game has been played by more than 6 million people across PS4 and PC.
