Video games have certainly become a more "entertainment"-related industry. Some compare it to the early days of Hollywood, and in a way, games have gotten progressively more cinematic as the systems have been able to handle them (beginning with Ninja Gaiden, one of the first games with "cinema scenes"). So does that mean that entertainers know how to make video games?
Well, if Take-Two's announcement is any indication, at least some people think so. Take-Two Interactive announced today the formation of a new console publishing label, called Rockstar Games. The new label is headed up by VP of worldwide development for Take-Two, Sam Houser, and will try to meld some of today's culture to the video game industry.
How well will that work? When the company announces exactly what it is releasing, maybe we'll know.
Houser will continue as Take-Two's VP of worldwide development while in his new role as president of Rockstar.
