Rick And Morty Spin-Off Is One Of Four New Shows Coming To Adult Swim-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 4:58 PM

Adult Swim has announced four spin-offs of some of its most popular shows, including Rick and Morty. The "shortform" spin-offs are coming for the Rick and Morty, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, and Pretty Face Is Going to Hell franchises.

As detailed by The Hollywood Reporter, the four shows are based on characters from their main programs, or are inspired in other ways by them. There will be between 8-10 episodes for each, and they will be available to watch globally.

"We see it as our mission to put something hilarious within a fingers' swipe of anyone on the planet," Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen said. "These shorts are a way to meet the next generation of Adult Swim fans where they are, while giving our creators another format to play in and innovate around."

The Rick and Morty spin-off is called The Vindicators, and it features Supernova, Vance Maxiumus, Alan Rails, Crocubot, and Noob Noob. They will work together to "fight crime, avert genocides, and yuk it up without Rick and Morty."

Rick and Morty creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland are executive producers on The Vindicators.

"We are thrilled to work in the Rick and Morty universe again, and these shorts are an incredible opportunity to explore what happens in the aftermath of the Vindicators saving (or destroying) worlds," said The Vindicators executive producers Sarah Carbiener and Erica Rosbe. "We're so excited to show how this team of superheroes is plenty dysfunctional whether Rick's around to have half of them murdered or not."

The Robot Chicken spin-off is called Alabama Jackson, and it comes from Scrubs actor Donald Faison. Faison created the show and voices the character Alabama Jackson, who is a "smooth-talking time-traveler who lands in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time, every time."

Like Robot Chicken, Alabama Jackson is a stop-motion series produced by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.

"It's been my dream to create something with stop-motion animation ever since Seth Green showed me clips of this crazy sketch show he was working on where the stars were the toys I grew up playing with," Faison said. "For it to come full circle and for my show to be made with this same team of artists only makes me more excited to explore the stories of Alabama Jackson!"

The Aqua Teen Hunger Force spin-off is Aquadonk Side Pieces, and it follows the side characters and villains from the main show, including The Mooninites, The Plutonians, MC Pee Pants, The Frat Aliens, Happy Time Harry, Handbanana, and The Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past.

Finally, Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell is getting a fifth season through animated shorts that will stream on the internet. "Cruel boss Satan (Matt Servitto), bumbling demon Gary (Henry Zebrowski), and all your other favorites return in America's beloved workplace comedy set in hell," reads a line from the description. "Expect more laughs, more gore, and maybe a talking animal. Seems like it's a cartoon they should add a talking animal. Maybe a fish?"

Adult Swim did not announce the release dates or streaming availability details for these four shows, but keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.
