Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways DLC Won’t Take As Long As The Resident Evil Village DLC To Come Out – Rumor-November 2024
Nov 13, 2024 11:30 PM

The Resident Evil 4 remake was just updated with a free update introducing the popular Mercenaries Mode, and it seems like players won't have to wait that long to experience the Separate Ways campaign starring Ada Wong.

Speaking on their Twitter profile, Dusk Golem, who proved to be extremely reliable regarding the survival-horror series by CAPCOM, revealed that the Separate Ways DLC won't take as long as the Resident Evil Village DLC did to release. The expansion for the latest main entry in the series started development only after the main game was out, while the DLC for the remake of the fourth entry was planned ahead of release, with a small team already working on it as the main team continued development of the base game. Unless something unexpected happens, the DLC should release this year.

(2/2) was already out. Separate Ways was plotted to give main attention to the main game during dev, with a smaller team working on Separate Ways during its course, to then bump up the SW team after work was done.

Unless some unforeseen development hurdles, should be this year.

Closer to the release of the Resident Evil 4 remake Separate Ways DLC, Mercenaries Mode will also get updated with four more characters - Leon Mafia, Ada, Ada Original RE4 Dress and Wesker, an additional stage and a new Extreme mode.

(2/2) Each character has a Mercs theme like the original.

There is an update for Mercenaries plotted for closer to Separate Ways DLC release, which adds four more characters (Leon Mafia, Ada, Ada OG RE4 Dress, & Wesker), an additional stage & a new "Extreme" mode. For later! pic.twitter.com/KIArBWEIRw

While Dusk Golem proved to be a reliable source of Resident Evil series information, we have to take everything with a grain of salt. Datamined information lines up with the Mercenaries Mode update revealed by the leaker, so it's almost certain at this point that the mode will eventually be expanded at some point.

The new Mercenaries Mode isn't the only addition CAPCOM made to the Resident Evil 4 remake this week, as multiple microtransactions are now available in the game, offering weapon-exclusive upgrade tickets that generally need a lot of work to obtain in-game. While this isn't the first time CAPCOM has done something like this for a single-player game, their inclusion is still disappointing to see.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S worldwide. You can learn more about the remake of one of the most popular entries in the series by checking out Nathan's review.

Resident Evil 4 was the ultimate test of Capcom’s remake skills, and unfortunately, they buckled a bit under the pressure. The game suffers from minor mechanical issues and doesn’t reinvent or elevate the original material as boldly as some might have hoped it would. That said, Capcom hasn’t broken anything either as this is still a fun, inventive thrill ride that has been brought up to modern technical standards in striking fashion. The new Resident Evil 4 is well worth it for fans of the series, just keep your hopes slightly in check and you won’t be spin-kicked by inflated expectations.
