Resident Evil 4 Remake sales have already surpassed 4 million units worldwide across all platforms, Capcom has today announced.
Last week, the publisher announced that its latest remake managed to sell over 3 million copies in just two days, and now, roughly one week later, the publisher has announced that another million units were sold. Of course, we don't know the exact sales numbers during the game's opening days, but it's evident that Capcom has another fast-selling remake.
Capcom hasn't directly mentioned it, but going by these initial sales numbers of the publisher's recent Resident Evil releases, including Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, and Resident Evil Village, it appears that Resident Evil 4 Remake is among the fastest-selling Resident Evil installments to date. For reference, RE7 managed to sell over 2.5 million copies globally during its first week of sale, and we know that Capcom shipped over 3.5 million copies of the game in its first three months.
Respectively, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake sold over 3 million in three days and 2 million copies in five days after launch. Capcom's most recent new entry in the series, Resident Evil: Village, sold more than 5.7 million copies globally across all platforms in nine months. Then again, initial launch sales of RE6 surpassed 4.5 million units globally, but it took the game more than a year to sell 5 million.
This means Resident Evil 4 remake is, by most measures, the second fastest selling RE in history within the first two weeks.
However, it is very likely RE:4 will overtake RE6 before long. RE6 shipped 4.5 million at launch, but didn't hit 5 million until nearly 12 months later. https://t.co/0uGQi8VpKP

And there we have Resident Evil 4 Remake already sitting at over 4 million copies roughly two weeks after its launch on March 23 - impressive numbers for sure, and it will be interesting to see how this remake will stack up against Capcom's other Resident Evil titles in the long run. Yesterday it became clear that the game's “The Mercenaries” mode already became available in some regions despite officially launching later today. Unfortunately, it appears that this mode contains less content than the original mode.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is available worldwide now for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC. Those looking for a rather difficult gameplay experience might want to check out this new 'Nightmare' mod, which increases the damage output of enemies, changes item prices, and more.
