The Resident Evil 4 remake may be getting additional content in the near future, judging from some behind-the-scenes changes that are being made on Steam.
As shown on Steam Database, two private branches - re_mas_00 and re_mas_02 - have been updated in the past couple of days, as CAPCOM is likely adding files to the game and testing them before public release. With the Tokyo Games Show right around the corner, it wouldn't be unlikely for paid or free DLC to be announced during the event.
Unlike Resident Evil Village, whose DLC only began development sometime after the game was released on PC and consoles, additional content for the Resident Evil 4 remake was already being worked on before the game launched. As such, the Separate Ways DLC will launch before the end of the year, according to a reliable insider. Mercenaries Mode will also get updated close to the launch of the DLC expansion to add four more characters - Leon Mafia, Ada, Ada Original RE4 Dress, and Wesker - and a new Extreme mode.
The Resident Evil 4 remake is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S worldwide. You can learn more about the remake of one of the most popular entries in the series by checking out Nathan's review.
Resident Evil 4 was the ultimate test of Capcom’s remake skills, and unfortunately, they buckled a bit under the pressure. The game suffers from minor mechanical issues and doesn’t reinvent or elevate the original material as boldly as some might have hoped it would. That said, Capcom hasn’t broken anything either as this is still a fun, inventive thrill ride that has been brought up to modern technical standards in striking fashion. The new Resident Evil 4 is well worth it for fans of the series, just keep your hopes slightly in check and you won’t be spin-kicked by inflated expectations.
