If a report from the Japanese Nikkei is to believed, Hideo Kojima has officially left Konami as of December 15, and is forming his own studio.

　　According Nikkei, Kojima is negotiating with Sony Computer Entertainment to launch the studio's first game on Playstation first. The studio is said to consist of Kojima and other former Kojima Productions employees. The studio was founded back in 2005, and closed its doors as of July 2015.

　　Kojima has been creating games since 1987 and is the creator of the Metal Gear series. He's considered one of the best game designers of all time.

Hideo Kojima vs Konami

　　Later on, Konami cancelled Kojima's Silent Hills for Sony's PS4 - a collaboration between Kojima and Guillermo del Toro.

　　Earlier this month, during The Game Awards, Konami prevented Kojima from attending the event.

　　At the event, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain won an award for best action-adventure game, but Kiefer Sutherland had to accept the award instead. Interestingly, Sutherland accepted the award on behalf of Kojima and not on Konami’s behalf. Keighley pointed out that Kojima was at home, watching the event.

　　Game Award producer and host Keighley described the situation regarding Kojima as follows:

　　Mr. Kojima had every intention of being with us tonight, but unfortunately he was informed by a lawyer representing Konami just recently that he would not be allowed to travel to tonight’s award ceremony to accept any awards. He’s still under an employment contract and it’s disappointing.

　　Konami received an enormous amount of backlash from preventing Kojima to attend the event.
