Red Dead Redemption Remaster Reference and Logo Reportedly Found in Rockstar Website Code-October 2024
Oct 26, 2024 6:24 AM

In recent weeks, evidence has been mounting that the much-loved original Red Dead Redemption may be returning in some form. The game was recently rated in South Korea again, and then insider Colin Moriarty (who has a somewhat shaky track record, but has got some things right) had this to say about the possible return of the game…

“I have seen confirmation that this is real… I had someone reach out to me behind the scenes that showed me something that definitively shows this game is coming. Maybe even imminently with an announcement, maybe in August.”

Well, some more breadcrumbs pointing toward a return of Red Dead Redemption may have dropped. According to Tez2, a GTA dataminer and Rockstar insider who has leaked accurate info in the past, evidence of an RDR remaster has been found by somebody poking around in the code for Rockstar’s website.

Apparently, something called “Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar Presents Ver)” has been added to the website’s internal games list. The codename “RDR1RSP” was also found. Perhaps most exciting, a logo was found for “Rockstar Games Presents: Red Dead Redemption.”

Rockstar's new site update, live an hour ago, added a new reference within the games list.

Of course, take this with a grain of salt until something is officially announced by Rockstar. That said, this particular rumor definitely seems to be building up steam.

If a Red Dead Redemption revival is indeed in the works, it will be interesting to see what form it takes. Will it be a fairly straightforward uprez job? Or might we see the game entirely updated and redone in the RDR2 engine? The “Rockstar Games Presents” title also seems to imply this may be the beginning of a series of remasters from the company, which would make sense. People still love a lot of the studio’s old games, and would be happy to play them on new hardware. As long as they don’t turn out like the GTA Trilogy “Definitive Edition” did.

What do you think? Interested in playing Red Dead Redemption again? What level of remaster/remake would Rockstar have to undertake to get you hyped?
