After some speculation and teasing earlier this week, Microsoft has finally confirmed the existence of the ReCore Definitive Edition, which will be released soon on PC and Xbox One.
The new edition of the game developed by Comcept and Armature Studio will release on August 29th for the price of $19.99. As rumored, ReCore Definitive Edition will include a new adventure called Eye of Obsidian, a new Corebot frame, and HDR support.
As one of the last remaining humans, forge friendships with courageous robotic companions and lead them on an epic adventure through a mysterious dynamic world. Includes the new “Eye of Obsidian” adventure and “T8-NK” Corebot frame.
ReCore has been released last year on PC and Xbox One in all regions. While not perfect, the game is a delightful experience that fans of Mega Man and classic Metroid games can appreciate.
With Metroid fans only getting Federation Force this year, it was up to other studios to give fans their fix, and Armature Studio & Comcept did deliver with ReCore. With a well written (albeit not exactly original) story and a nicely crafted gameplay experience featuring plenty of content, ReCore is the game to get for those looking for an involving action adventure title. Sadly, the experience is a bit lessened by the generally low challenge level, which makes Corebots mechanics almost superfluous, slightly repetitive combat, disappointing boss battles and a variety of technical issues. ReCore is not Super Metroid at all, that’s for sure, but it’s definitely a very good starting point for a franchise that might even become big with the right tweaks.
ReCore is now out on PC and Xbox One.
