RE: Deadly Silence makes noise on DS
RE: Deadly Silence makes noise on DS-September 2024
Sep 23, 2024 6:23 AM

The DS may be known for cutesy games full of neighborly critters (Animal Crossing: Wild World), adorable puppies (Nintendogs), and romantic zaniness (Feel the Magic: XY/XX, The Rub Rabbits!), but the system is taking an evil turn. Capcom today announced that Resident Evil: Deadly Silence is now available to spook DS owners.

The game is a remake of Resident Evil, the PlayStation game that left gamers hiding under their covers in 1996. Like in the original, gamers will suit up as Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine and investigate some gruesome murders in the town of Raccoon City.

The DS version has been tweaked specifically for the platform. Instead of suspense and puzzle-solving, Deadly Silence focuses more on action, giving gamers more enemies to fight and more ammunition to blow 'em away with. Those who know Resident Evil like the back of their hands will have new obstacles in their way, as many of the puzzles have been changed for a fresh challenge.

Of course, no DS remake would be complete without incorporating the handheld's unique features. The stylus can be used to knife enemies, the microphone will be used to solve puzzles and heal team members, and the Wi-Fi capability can be used for cooperative and competitive multiplayer play.

Resident Evil: Deadly Silence is rated M for Mature and retails for $34.99. To see if the game lives up to the haunting hallmark of the Resident Evil series, read GameSpot's full review.
