Rainbow Six Siege Reverse Friendly Fire Update Takes it to Team Killing Today-October 2024
Oct 28, 2024 12:32 PM

Rainbow Six Siege has been trying to combat the issue of team killing for some time, with Ubisoft announcing they were planning to deliver a system where any damage you inflict on a teammate will be reflected back on you. That promise was made a couple months ago, and today Ubisoft finally rolls out Reverse Friendly Fire. Ubisoft has released a handy-dandy infographic to explain the changes Reverse Friendly Fire brings to Rainbow Six Siege.

Here’s a more-detailed breakdown of the new changes:

  Effect Of Reverse Friendly Fire

  On Weapons/Thrown Objects

  Impacts:

Primary/secondary weaponsDirect hits from thrown unique gadgetsExothermic-S Torch (Maverick)SK 4-12 (Buck)Mounted LMG (Tachanka; regardless of who’s using the turret)M120 CREM (Ash) when the breaching round directly hits someoneKS79 Lifeline (Zofia)Airjab Launcher (Nomad)Pest Launcher (Mozzie)Before RFF activation:

Will count towards activating RFFAfter RFF activation:

Can cause damage to teammatesDoes not reverse damage dealtExplosives currently will continue to damage teammates even under RFF. This is not intended and will be fixed in Rainbow Six Siege Year 4, Season 2.Exceptions

ClaymoreEntry Denial Device (Kapkan)X-Kairos pellets (Hibana)Exothermic Charge (Thermite)These explosives do not trigger RFF. While under RFF, these also do not reverse damage dealt and can continue to damage teammates. This can change in the future with feedback and further game design considerations. On Drones/Operator Cameras

  Impacts:

Evil Eye (Maestro)Shock Drone (Twitch and Mozzie)Before RFF activation:

Can cause damage to teammatesWill count towards activating RFFAfter RFF activation:

Teammates will not receive damageWill reverse damage dealt (onto the drone/camera)Ubisoft plans to make more tweaks and additions to the Reverse Friendly Fire system, including scenarios where it might affect your whole squad. Overall, RFF seems like a smart solution to Rainbow Six Siege's team killing problem, although we’ll see how players react to it.

Rainbow Six Siege is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
