QuakeCon 2010 details rumble out
QuakeCon 2010 details rumble out-December 2024
Dec 14, 2024 8:38 PM

In March, id Software and Bethesda revealed that QuakeCon 2010 would take over the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas from August 12-15. That announcement was short on details, but today Bethesda offered more information about the annual show.

Will Rage show its face this year? For the first time, registration for the free and open-to-the-public event is taking place entirely on site. Bethesda says it is executing a "new and improved registration process" aimed at reducing waiting time for those taking part in the Bring Your Own Computer event and general attendees as well. As in years past, QuakeCon 2010 will see enthusiasts lug their gaming rigs to the hotel and take part in large-scale tournaments. Also new this year is the addition of a 250-seat tournament arena, which will let enthusiasts get close to the competitors.

Bethesda-published titles confirmed as playable on this year's show floor include Brink, Fallout: New Vegas, and Hunted: The Demon’s Forge. Though id Software's postapocalyptic shooter/racer Rage was oddly left off the fact sheet, it will likely appear in some form. Also, Doom 4, which was officially announced at QuakeCon 2008, is apt to be shown at the event. As part of id chief technical officer John Carmack's QuakeCon 2009 keynote address, he said details for the next installment in the seminal sci-fi shooter series will arrive this year.
