Beginning in 2005, the Puppy Bowl has been giving people an option for the NFL Super Bowl Halftime. Instead of watching an artist perform on official NFL programming, you can watch puppies wrestle around. This year is the 16th edition of the event, and it is coming to Animal Planet.

　　This year, Team Ruff takes on Team Fluff in the annual battle of the canines. There will be 96 pups competing from 61 different shelters, so if there's a specific dog you love during the event, you can bring them home. Chewy is providing adoption starter kits with everything you need for the dogs to make the transition into adoptive homes easier. In previous Puppy Bowls, 100% of the participating dogs found new homes after the battle for the Chewy Lombarky Trophy. Dan Schachner returns to referee the event, throwing flags for "roughhousing" and "being too cute."

　　The pre-game show for the Puppy Bowl kicks off at 2 PM ET / 11 AM PT with the main event coming at 3 PM ET / 12 PM PT. Let's check out a few of this year's competitors in the event. I've picked the pups I find the cutest, which is totally subjective, so expect to see some pugs and bulldogs.

　　Aside from Betty the bulldog, here are a few other cute pups that will be in this year's Puppy Bowl: From left to right, Albert, Belle, Clarence, Comet, Dracula, Floofer, Kingery, Michael Scott (the best name of the bunch), and Squash. Other fantastic-named dogs that will appear but aren't pictured are Rooster, Rocky Road, Papaya, and Granny Smith.

　　The Puppy Bowl comes to Animal Planet on Sunday, February 2 at 3 PM ET / 12 PM PT. If Animal Planet needs a special guest ref for any future event, I'm more than willing to help out, throw flags, and make cute faces at the camera. Seriously, hit me up.
