PUBG Corp. Drops PUBG vs Fortnite Battle Royale Copyright Lawsuit Against Epic Games-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 3:52 AM

PUBG Corp. has already dropped its PUBG vs Fortnite Battle Royale copyright lawsuit against Fortnite creator Epic Games.

The copyright battle between the creators of the insanely popular Battle-royale games started off earlier this year, but it appears that PUBG Corp. is already dropping the ball.

“We’ve had an ongoing relationship with Epic Games throughout PUBG’s development as they are the creators of UE4, the engine we licensed for the game”, PUBG’s Chang Han Kim, Vice President and Executive Producer, already said back in September of 2017. “ After listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known.”

“We have also noticed that Epic Games references PUBG in the promotion of Fortnite to their community and in communications with the press. This was never discussed with us and we don’t feel that it’s right.”

Website Bloomberg reports that PUBG Corp. sent a letter of withdrawal to Epic Games’ attorneys on Monday and the case between the two companies has since been closed. The dropping of the lawsuit has been confirmed by PUBG Corp., but the companies reasoning is unknown at this point. According to Bloomberg, representatives for Epic in Korea had no immediate comment.

PUBG is can be bought for PC through Steam and Xbox One, while Fortnite can be downloaded for free on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and iOS.
