Perhaps best known for its PlayStation titles - such games as Formula 1, WipeOut, and Destruction Derby - developer Psygnosis Limited has just opened its first development studio in the United States.
The company, a division of Sony, already operates seven studios in Europe (in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Stroud, and London, England - where Pysgnosis has two studios - as well as in Paris, France). It's opening its first stateside doors in San Francisco.
"A key charter in the San Francisco office will be the development of accelerated PC titles, multi-player, and online games," says Bert Schroeder, head producer at the new office.
Schroeder joins Vincent Hedges, who left DreamWorks SKG to head up the new Psygnosis office as US studio manager.
Psygnosis expects to employ more than 100 people by March 1998 - staff for six development teams and a testing department.
