The American PlayStation Network adds imported PlayStation One titles to its store fairly regularly, but the European PSN lacks that service. However, that's going to change. Sony Europe today announced that Japanese and US PSOne imports are headed to the European PSN. Japanese and US PSOne games are coming to Europe.
SCEE PlayStation Store rep Ross McGrath announced the news on the European PlayStation Blog today. While no specific titles were mentioned, McGrath did say there are a "few" PSOne titles currently being prepped for release on the European PSN.
Publishers can now apply to have their PSOne titles released in the European store, but they will be sold "as is," meaning there will be no localization. Additionally, all titles are subject to approval from each region's specific ratings board.
"This also means that if a PAL version of a title has been unable to pass QA in SCEE, but the NTSC version is already available on the PlayStation Store in SCEA or SCEJ, we can look at publishing that version instead," McGrath explained. The SCEE rep also said gamers hoping to have a specific game added to the store should voice their opinions by commenting on the post.
