PSA: Mega Man 11 Doesn't Auto-Save
PSA: Mega Man 11 Doesn't Auto-Save-January 2024
Jan 8, 2025 2:22 PM

Mega Man 11 is a retro throwback in a lot of ways, including one that may throw you off if you're not careful. It relies on a good old-fashioned manual save system, which means you'll lose progress if you absentmindedly turn it off or switch to another game before saving.

The save options can be found in the main boss menu, and the option appears after completing a stage or hitting the game over screen. It's easy to access and quick to actually save your game, so it's not too inconvenient on the whole. Still, it might surprise players who are more accustomed to the modern convenience of auto-saves.

Mega Man 11 is modeled after classic Mega Man games, but with a fresh new art style that modernizes the look and feel. It's gotten a positive reception from around the industry for its touching up some classic tropes, but this is one area where sticking to the classic formula may confuse players, so just be aware.

"At its best, it's a terrific retro romp with exciting boss encounters and unique gimmicks. At its worst, it's a frustrating experience whose too-long levels toss out infuriating obstacles to progress at the worst times," said Heidi Kemps in GameSpot's Mega Man 11 review. "But even with these issues, it just feels good to see Mega Man back in action, and Mega Man 11 will hopefully be the start of many new robotic adventures to come."

Mega Man 11 is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
