PS5 Release Expected By the End of 2019 But Part Shortages Might Delay It, Analyst Believes-October 2024

The PS5 release is expected by the end of next year, but part shortages might prevent this from happening.

At least, that’s what analyst Hideki Yasuda from Ace Economic Research Institute believes, as covered in his most recent financial Sony report.

The analyst writes that he expects Sony to release the next-gen PlayStation console by the end of 2019, but a possible shortage on electric components might very well delay the release of the PS5.

According to Japanese electronic manufacturers Murata Manufacturing and TKD, the rising demand for monolithic ceramic capacitors used in newly-fabricated cars and 5G-capable mobile devices could cause a strain on the worldwide supply and demand chain of these components, which in turn, could affect the production of Sony’s PlayStation 5.

Meanwhile, Sony’s PS4 keeps selling amazingly well and the company recently announced that 500 million PlayStation systems have been sold since the release of the first PlayStation console back in 1994. Back in May of this year, Sony announced that the PS4 entered the final phase of its life-cycle.

Sony has yet to officially announce its PlayStation 5, but media outlets and analyst have already been heavily speculating about its release date and hardware. One of the most recent rumors is that the console will be using AMD's Ryzen tech for its CPU.
