The classic PlayStation golf franchise Hot Shots Golf is coming to the PlayStation 4. New Hot Shots Golf is a working title and the PlayStation Blog announced its first details earlier today.
New Hot Shots Golf will have some new features, including character creation, a "robust" online experience, and the ability to travel freely on the game's courses. And yes, you can drive the golf carts.
Unlike previous games, you won't be unlocking new golfers as you progress through the game. Instead, you'll start by creating a character and then level them up by completing tasks.
The online offering will include missions and cooperative play, alongside matches and tournaments. A new team-based mode that was shown at PlayStation Experience had players working together to get through as many holes as possible within a specific time limit. It was mentioned that you'll see other players "going about their business as well." No other details were given about what makes the online experience "robust."
Rather than being transported to each hole, you'll be able to roam the course by foot or cart. SCEA Assistant ISD Producer Tomoyo Kimura said that you can stop by a pond and catch fish, so it sounds like there will be more to do than just aiming for the green. It was not announced if there will be a feature that lets you immediately go to your next shot.
No release date has been announced for North America, but Japan will be receiving New Hot Shots Golf next year. For more news from PlayStation Experience, check out GameSpot's hub for the event here.
