Sony announced today that, based on player feedback, it will soon introduce a suite of "most-requested" social features to the PlayStation 4 through a system update in the coming weeks. Sony announced the news on the PlayStation Blog today and a breakdown of the new features coming to PS4 is below.
PS4 system update 1.70:
Adds a "rich video editor" to help you personalize video clipsAllows you to export to and save videos and screenshots to a USB driveAdds an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMIIntroduces "a lot more"--will be announced in the futureA separate PS4 system update will add the ability for Twitch broadcasts to be archived. Currently, the Xbox One version of Twitch allows you to archive your broadcasts. In addition, this upcoming update will deliver broadcasts in 720p, an upgrade over the current resolution.
Yesterday, Sony launched PS4 update 1.62, which improves general "operation quality."
Last night during the Game Developers Conference, Sony officially announced Project Morpheus, an all-new 1080p virtual reality initiative that will go head-to-head with Oculus Rift. We'll have more on the device in the days ahead.
