The PlayStation 4's world tour continues, as the console is now available in Japan. The clock just struck midnight in Sony's home region and gamers there can now begin buying the system. The PS4 sells for 39,980 yen in Japan, or around $390.
The PS4 is now available in 49 countries worldwide and has sold over 5.3 million units as of February 8. This number will only increase now that the system is available in Japan.
Sony celebrated the PS4 launch in Japan with a special midnight launch event featuring speeches from various Sony executives as well as game designers like Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima.
