In February 2008, Namco Bandai announced that Tales of Vesperia would usher in its series of anime-inspired role-playing games on the current generation of consoles, but it would do so exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox 360. However, it turns out that the announcement of Tales of Vesperia as an Xbox 360 exclusive was a bit of a misnomer, as Namco Bandai revealed today in the latest issue of Shonen Jump that the game will arrive in Japan for the PlayStation 3 this year.
Details on Tales of Vesperia for the PS3 remain light, and Namco Bandai had not confirmed the title's release outside of Japan as of press time. However, according to scans of the announcement (which were obtained by gaming Web site Kombo and translated by GameSpot), Tales of Vesperia on the PS3 will feature at least one new character, by the name of Patty Fleur.
Along with word on the PS3 game, Shonen Jump delivered news of two new Tales installments coming to the Wii and PSP. Following on from the November release of Tales of Symphonia II, Tales of Graces is expected to arrive in Japan on Nintendo's console this winter. Tales of VS was also announced for the PSP, and it is expected to hit Japanese retail shelves this summer.
Lastly, Shonen Jump revealed that Namco Bandai is prepping a full-length anime set in the Tales universe. Titled Tales of Vesperia, the film is being created by Production I.G., which handled Tales of Vesperia's cutscenes. The story will reportedly follow series characters Yuri and Fren. A release date for the film has yet to be announced in Japan or elsewhere.
