Inspired Broadcast Networks announced the release of a specially adapted version of World Championship Snooker 2003 for pubs and bars across the UK. Developed by Blade Interactive, itbox Snooker has been adapted from the PS2 version of the original game to offer cash prizes and to be controlled via touch screen buttons. Today's announcement marks the first adaptation of a home console game for use in pub machines.
"By bringing games like Snooker onto our network, we are hoping to get a generation of hardcore gamers off the sofa and into pubs," said Anne de Kerckhove, COO of Inspired Broadcast Networks. "By offering digital entertainment in pubs that is as good as anything they can get at home, we are making sure that consumers have one less excuse not to go out."
World Championship Snooker 2003 was released through Codemasters in Europe earlier this year. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
