What once was merely a Japanese fad of epic proportions is headed on a collision course with the US. The animated Pokemon TV program is set to hit the tube in early September.
In what could be called the most amazing team-up of partners for the launch of a non-sequel video game, Nintendo has assembled the likes of 4Kids Entertainment, Hasbro, and KFC to insure Pokemon invades the mass media here in order to create a craze of Godzilla proportions.
Nintendo's already planning launch events, including a 10-city tour that begins on August 27 in ToPikachu (I mean, Topeka), Kansas. That's just the beginning. Even before the games are available, the cartoon series of Pokemon will begin airing (September 7). Planned for the fall are a line of toys from Hasbro as well as KFC beanbag toys and Nintendo's own Pokemon Pikachu.
